Post Tension Slabs(PT slabs) Part 2 POST TENSION INSTALLATION.

Image
Hello every one, After we all got an idea from the last two parts,  Today we will explain how to install PT slab. The components of PT system was mentioned in the above links. 1-Anchorage system.  2-Strands.  3-Duct. 4-Bar Chair. Initially and before starting in PT slab all form work should be completed and checked by safety team and scaffolds team to make sure zero harms. SAFETY FIRST  After receiving the materials at site and checking the materials to be matched with the project specs then the workers can start preparing for the work like cutting the strands at the required length if they will use manual strand pushing and preparing the anchors with recess even it's made from polystyrene or rubber. Slab edge to be marked by the surveyor and slab edge to be fixed prior to start duct installation. POST TENSION SLAB INSTALLATION. Step 1 :- marking f anchor location on the side shutter and make holes at require...

post tension slabs(PT slabs) part 1 WHY POST TENSION??

Why Post Tension?? For all civil engineers and for all civil students, we all believe that choosing Post Tension is one of the best decisions in many cases specially in big spans with deflection probability. Using Post Tension slabs or beams is very useful to resist the deflection when it's coming necessary to build that mush of big spans (halls, theaters, cinemas, schools, palaces..) which will lead to high deflection in the horizontal elements. When the structural engineer choosing to use PT in slabs or beams that means he is looking forward cost saving as he will reduce the dimensions of the elements even in slab thickness or beams depth. The upper figure shown how the PT affecting and reducing the deflection in the horizontal structural elements in each case. 1-Normal beam with loads in the original condition without                 deflection. 2-The beam after loading and showing the deformed shape(in case...

POST TENSION SLABS (PT SLABS)

Post Tension Slab - Part 1. One of the most important and improving systems in construction methods is Pre-stressed concrete which covering all structural elements(horizontal & vertical). the main concept for the pre-stressed concrete is to creating resisting force for the deflection shape as shown the figure. the same method can be applied to all structural elements with little difference depends on the element itself and the method of fixing. There is two kinds of Pre-stressing concrete. Pre-tension. Post-tension. Pre-tension concrete elements must be prepared in the factory then to be shifted to the construction areas to be fixed by cranes under qualified supervision and engineering team, different fixing methods are following depending on the element shape and size as shown the figure Post tension concrete elements usually prepared at site due to it's size so it cannot be manufactured in the factory then shifted to sites like slabs or r...
